Spring cleaning is in full bloom in the Modesto areas…. And as the days start to turn longer and the temperature starts to rise, we like bears awaking from our long winters nap, start to emerge from our caves and embrace the long awaited promise of spring. Our thoughts drift to a Rockwell like scene were we have anticipated beautiful blooming flowers, tidy well producing gardens, outdoor entertaining and baseball games. Amid all these peaceful reflections, the thought of spring cleaning and all that you need to accomplish, slowly creeps in as well. This year as you take that first initial examining walk of your home, analyzing each laborious task, you may also start to realize that you have also wanted to paint the guest room and the living room could use some sprucing up as well. It can all be a little overwhelming at first, but if you realize that there are many resources out there you can utilize, it can lighten the load considerably.    Take for instance an option we offer at Lancaster Painting in the Modesto. It’s called -“Painter for a Day”.

Let’s say you want us to come out and repaint your front door and our painter finishes in less time than you have requested him for? We have you make a list of other items you need done and he will start down the list until your time is up. Here are some examples of items that might be on your list:

  • Touch-up painting – walls/baseboards/trim
  • Pressure washing your decks/walk ways / home
  • Cleaning your gutters/windows
  • Cleaning patio furniture/ applying fresh paint to furniture
  • Knocking down cobwebs

Repainted Kitchen cabinets

Whether you’re an existing homeowner or a first time home buyer, most of us for one reason or another have considered remodeling the kitchen. Let’s face it, one of the biggest complaints as well as being one of the biggest investments, can be the kitchen cabinets. While many Modesto homeowners may want to replace their cabinets, they feel intimidated by the cost, labor and decisions involved. Other homeowners in the Central Valley may still be happy with the style, size and placement of their cabinets but are tired of them looking worn and outdated. If you fall into either of these categories and your cabinets are in good shape, you may want to consider repainting or refinishing your existing cabinets instead of replacing them.
Repainting your cabinets can:
* Save you money: According to Remodeling Magazine’s- 2009-2010 Cost vs. value report the average cost of a Minor Kitchen remodel was $23,210. Depending on the paint and method you use, painting cabinets can be as little as 10% – 20% of the cost of replacement cabinets.
* Be environmentally friendly: By repainting or refinishing your cabinets you will be helping to save our environment by:
● Not filling up another landfill with cabinets
● Save the energy and raw materials (tree’s) it takes to build new cabinets
● Following California Laws restricting VOC’s (volatile organic compounds)
Environmental concerns over VOC’s have many Californians as well as our clients in Turlock, Modesto and Manteca concerned. However, we can assure them that there are many great products (that meet these specifications) now available to help accomplish the desired outcome.

There are many methods for repainting cabinets. Below we’ve listed a few basic preparations:

Remove hardware

Clean surfaces

Repair any small holes, cracks

Remove glossy sheen (with either a sanding or stripping agent)

Wipe down

Prime

Finish Paint (usually 2 coats)

Project Leader Toby Kitchens From Lancaster Painting likes to point out that not only do painted cabinets have a life expectancy of 6-10 years , they are easy to maintain, fairly simple to touch up and the subsequent repaint is less expensive, typically is only 1 coat vs. 3 initial coats. If you have any other questions concerning options for updating your Kitchen Cabinets please do not hesitate to contact us at LancasterPainting.  Please bookmark our site and join us on our Facebook Page to win weekly prizes.

Thanksgiving… a time of year we tend to set aside to spend with family and friends.  We think about who and the things we are thankful for in our lives.

I would like to share with you some of  the gifts in my life I am thankful for..

I am thankful for waking up everyday, taking my first step out of my bed and not falling flat on my face.. I am thankful for my children.. they have taught me patience, made me a better person and taught me the concept of true, unconditional love.  They are gifts in their own special way… I am thankful for my family and friends!  Each person in my life has taught me something and I am who I am because of them!  I am thankful for my business and the way we are given opportunities to improve homes and projects that mean a great deal to people.  I am thankful for my Lancaster Painting Team – they make it easy to want to come to work and see what the day holds!  I am thankful for their hard work and dedication!  I am thankful for good times and, believe it or not, bad times..  I am thankful for life and the gifts I am given everyday!

Isn’t it interesting how life gets us and keeps us going so fast that a year passes and it’s Thanksgiving again… The time of year we make time to think of the people and the things we are thankful for…  I know it is not the New Year yet; however, I am challenging / promising myself that this year will be the year that I will try to think of at least one person and/or thing I am thankful for everyday!  How amazing will this be… 365 days of “Thanksgiving”…

What are you thankful for?
