Whether you inherited it when buying a home or you’ve outgrown a color choice you made years ago, we’ve all had an interior paint color that simply needed to go away.
In this particular case, our client asked us to cover a very assertive (that word seems to work here) striped wall, and the bright blue that wrapped around the remainder of the room. Even the ceiling was blue, making the space feel closed in and, well, a little tent-like.
We typically don’t use primer unless a drastic color change is in order, or there is an issue with sheen that needs to be addressed.
Primer was necessary here as we worked to cover the existing paint and wanted to be certain the new color’s coverage was smooth and complete.
After locking out the blue with a coat of primer, we applied two coats of the new interior paint. Not only is the room completely transformed and given a more stylish appeal, but the use of white on the ceiling makes the space feel taller rather than closed in.
It’s amazing what well-chosen color can do, isn’t it?
