As you can see in the pictures above and below, we recently painted kitchen cabinets for a client in Riverbank.
We replaced the existing light wood grain with a color called Crisp Muslin, from Dunn Edwards . New hinges and knobs were installed as well, completing the stylish update.
If you follow our projects or home design trends in general, you probably have noticed that this is a hugely popular direction for many homeowners to take. As stylish as wood cabinetry or darker paint colors can be (in the right environment), white/light neutral cabinets are leading the pack.
Why is this exactly?
We say “white,” but that really is just a general description of an incredible extended family of shades, hues, and varying degrees of warmth. This Crisp Muslin, for example, really isn’t white. It’s considered a warm neutral, and upon closer inspection is almost a pale taupe.
While walking on the wilder side and painting your cabinetry a riskier, bolder color can be fun, if you are looking for an option that won’t go out of vogue anytime soon, white is a fantastic choice. It looks great, wears well (when applied by a professional painter ), and will be stylish for a long, long time.
Regardless of your choice of countertop, backsplash, wall colors, floors, hand towels, artwork, or whatever other colorful elements are in your kitchen, neutral cabinets will get along well with them all.
It’s true! Nothing visually pushes walls apart better than light colors, especially when appropriate lighting is added into the mix.
White is hard to clean! White looks dirty all the time!
Does this sound familiar? The truth is, the kitchen is a tough environment for any surface and color; a huge amount is asked of it. If your white (or light neutral) paint is applied well, is a quality product, and all the appropriate prep techniques are used, it will be just as durable and scrubbable as any other option. It may be an unforgiving color, but it can still be a totally functional color.
If you live in the Central Valley area, we hope you’ll give us a call to discuss your home painting goals! It would be our pleasure to talk with you.
